PETALING JAYA: Former Inspector General of Police,Tan Sri Musa Hassan today said, that there should not be any interference and intimidation on the investigation by the Special Task Force on the debt-ridden 1Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB), even from the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak himself.
He said the task force has been entrusted to investigate the state investment arm, and should therefore be allowed to conduct their investigations without any interference.
There have been worries that the Special Task Force in charge of the 1MDB investigation will be intimidated after the service of former Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, one of the four Tan Sris in the team, was terminated on Tuesday.
"They shouldn't be intimidated in performing their duties, and there shouldn't be any intimidation. You need a fair investigation, as this is a national issue," he said when contacted by theSun today.
The former police chief added that the investigation should be allowed to carry on as usual despite the turmoil surrounding the task force.
"To me, they have been tasked and should therefore continue to do so. The investigation needs to be transparent, in accordance with the proper rules, and should continue to work with high integrity. I'm not even sure why he (Abdul Gani) was removed, but the investigation must go on," he said.
